“Wherever the river flows, everything will flourish. Their leaves will not wither and their fruit will not fail.”

                                                          Ezekiel 47

Our mission is to share the message of God’s redeeming mercy through all we say and do among the neighborhoods of southern Delaware County.

The Story of God’s Redeeming Mercy

As humans, we have been drawn away from our Creator God to lesser pursuits; lesser gods, as it were. Deep inside, we sense these lesser things are dry, empty wells, but we continue to embrace them. As a result, we’re left with a gnawing thirst, a craving for something greater, something more fulfilling, something real.

In Ezekiel 47, as the prophet writes of healing waters, he writes out of his understanding that this longing is the experience of every human being. He also grasps this universal struggle stems from brokenness due to the human choice to love self vs. God.

Once separated from God, humans drifted quickly from deep relationship with God, the primary relationship for which we were designed, to an arrogant self-importance, in which we see ourselves as our only authority. As humans, we sense deep futility in this – there is a dead-end-ness in all of life – but, despite this sixth-sense that all is not as it should be, it is the rare person who is able to comprehend the reason is found in our own choice to remain alienated from the Source of Life – God himself.

MERCY is a choice to withhold judgment.

But, as God’s Story of redeeming mercy unfolds, it speaks of a better way and despite our choice to elevate ourselves, God remained merciful, never wavering in his desire to be with us, to be reconciled to us, to engage us and even empower us to do God-like work in the world. From the moment humanity walked away from God, he set out on a selfless mission of mercy, like a loving Father, to make things right. The life and death of Jesus is the ultimate demonstration of the lengths God has gone to restore relationship with humanity. God gave up his son, Jesus, to redeem, or buy back, relationship with humanity.

To REDEEM means to go and buy back.

Ezekiel paints a beautiful picture of God’s continuing mission.  Through Jesus, redemption has come; God’s love flows into human lives again. Like Ezekiel’s river of life, as God’s love flows, it restores and renews everything it touches. Jesus has reestablished a link that had been lost between God and humanity. With the connection re-established, no matter how broken we’ve become, the flow of God’s love is available to renovate our lives, to wipe away years of guilt and remove unresolved shame.

Sharing the glory of this God’s love and telling the Story of this God’s mission of mercy is the mission of Redeeming Mercy Communities.

Welcome Into the Family

Currently we are a small family of Delco residents doing life together in Aston Township. We gather twice weekly for equipping and worship in Aston’s Valley View neighborhood, but our primary life-style is seen in a multitude of moments in daily relationships with one another and our neighbors, loving and serving as the church in the everyday, bringing Jesus into the ordinary stuff of our human lives.

Whether you are single or married with a family, raising kids alone or empty-nesting, no matter your race, age, or background, whether you see yourself as a spiritual skeptic or a committed believer, we would love to walk with you as you seek to know and understand God better.

What To Expect

Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion – it is a daily process whereby you grow to be more and more like Christ.

Billy Graham

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.

C. S. Lewis

If the wrongdoer has to do something to merit mercy, then it isn’t mercy.

Tim Keller

By judging others we blind ourselves to our own evil and to the grace which others are just as entitled to as we are.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer

The difference between humanity and all the rest of creation is that men and woman were made to relate directly with God.

Francis A. Schaeffer

Genuine spiritual knowledge lies in the union of the believer’s life with the truth of God.

Watchman Nee
