A Mercy Community (MC) is a simple church made up of men and women and their families who together are learning to trust Jesus and orient their lives around God in close-knit community. Beyond this encouraging work, each simple church ministry is intentionally loving and servicing their respective communities, and drawing as many as will join them into life saving gospel relationship.
An MC is an autonomous body lead by a local team.
An MC builds a ministry that they believe will best propel the gospel message into their local environment. They will gather together at times and places that serves the needs they perceive. Gatherings more often than not includes a family style meal along with casual but intentional spiritual dialogue.
In most of daily life, MC friends engage in intense gospel ministry, which is often slow and difficult. A gathering is time to rest and rejuvenate. The MC will provide spiritual encouragement, guidance and teaching to each of the committed participants and give each an opportunity to serve each other.
An MC gathering often also provides a relaxed and winsome entry-point into God’s family for anyone who may be taking a deeper interest in spiritual things through the relationships they experience with MC members.
It is anticipated that the Spirit will invite and encourage many MC participants to start new ministries among people groups that may be slightly outside the reach of the current body. As this is revealed, it will be encouraged and, if all agree with the new direction, a new simple church will be launched and supported.
