Regular rhythm of neighborhood gatherings for worship, prayer & encouragement.
The group that serves together as a local Mercy Community establishes a regular rhythm of gathering – most often weekly – for celebration of Jesus and each other. There is food, casual and intimate conversation, prayer, dialogue around God’s Word, and time remembering Jesus’ suffering through the communion meal. This is no a sterile, starchy church meeting. This is a celebration, a family-friendly party atmosphere.
There may be some Scripture reading or open dialogue around a scripture-based idea, but no lectures or sermons. Communion is offered in an open manner, usually embedded within the celebration meal – a simple and straight forward way to remind ourselves and those observing that our daily lives are inescapably connected to our spiritual lives and all is centered on Jesus.
Those observers may include new followers as well as those considering following Jesus. These gatherings are always open to anyone, so those looking to understand Jesus or our ministry will feel welcomed and encouraged to participate, observe and ask questions. These gatherings are a casual and winsome way for men, women and children to watch and learn about our faith.
These routine gatherings are most often hosted in private homes but they can be held anywhere that works for the participants.
