We’re not so much interested in building a regional church as we are in presenting Jesus to our entire region.
Southern Delaware County is our place, a region of about 30 semi-urban towns along the I-95 corridor between South Philadelphia and Wilmington, DE. Our broad vision for the region includes encouraging and supporting creative, grassroots expansion of the church into any and every corner of society.
Historically, God has deposited his people in places for specific reasons, with specific callings in mind. We take this matter of God-orchestrated place very seriously, believing God’s calling to a specific place comes with responsibility to represent Jesus in that place.
Along with that responsibility often comes parallel gifts and talents needed to achieve the work to be done there.
Beyond the general “place” are the more specific “places” that only a few individuals can go. This may be the workplace, an extended family, a certain people-group, a bar or restaurant, or even a specific talent that places a person in an exclusive circle of relationships.
Beyond the region there is also the calling to a specific town, a local neighborhood within the town, or perhaps a block or a row of homes.
Southern Delaware County is home to a dense population of hardworking, blue-collar families. There are pockets of urban blight and many poor and under-served neighborhoods. Though considered suburbs, these villages maintain a neighborhood feel consistent with the Philly vibe, each with a long history success and strive result in a distinct culture.
